LeadJens vs a virtual assistant: which one do you need?

Quick answer: A VA is the right hire when you already know what to publish and just need it published. AI visibility is mostly the deciding, not the doing — what your entity record says, which questions to answer, what structured data belongs on the page. If you have a clear plan and no hours, hire a VA. If you have hours and no plan, you do not need either of us yet.

Most vendors will not tell you the DIY path works, because it competes with them. It does work. I would rather you fix this yourself for free than pay me for something you were going to do anyway, and the version of this page that pretends otherwise would be worse for both of us.

What a VA is genuinely better at

Volume and repetition, at a price I cannot match. Published rate research puts general virtual assistants doing publishing, syncing, data entry and checklist work at roughly $5 to $8 an hour, and specialist marketing copy editors at a $30/hour median, $20 to $40 typical (Upwork published rates, captured 2026-08-11). If the job is "post these fourteen things every week," a VA wins on cost and it is not close.

A VA is also yours. They learn your business, sit in your systems, and can be redirected to transaction coordination the week nothing needs publishing. That flexibility is real and I do not offer it.

What a VA cannot do for you

Decide what belongs on the page. A VA executes a plan; they do not write one, and AI visibility is almost entirely plan. Which questions your buyers actually type. Whether your name, title and market are character-for-character identical across every profile. What structured data a page needs and whether it matches what the page visibly says. Whether an engine currently describes you accurately, and what changed since last month.

Hand that list to a $6/hour VA and you get a very efficient execution of decisions nobody made.

Use both, in this order

If you can afford one of us, and you do not yet have a plan, the plan is the constraint. Get the assessment, get the plan, and then a VA can execute most of it for less than I charge. That is a genuinely good outcome and I will tell you so on the call.

The clients who get the most out of me already have an assistant. I decide and draft; their person publishes. That split costs less than either of us alone doing the whole job.

Frequently asked

Should a real estate agent hire a VA or an AI visibility service? Hire a VA if you already know what to publish and need hours. Hire a visibility service if you do not know what to publish, which is more common than agents expect. AI visibility is mostly decisions — what your entity record says, which questions to answer, what structured data belongs on a page — and a VA executes decisions rather than making them.

How much does a real estate virtual assistant cost? Published rate research puts general virtual assistants doing publishing, syncing and checklist work at roughly 5 to 8 dollars an hour, and specialist marketing copy editors at a 30 dollar per hour median with 20 to 40 dollars typical (Upwork published rates, captured 2026-08-11). Rates vary by scope and location, so treat these as a starting range and get quotes.

Can a virtual assistant do AI visibility work? Most of the execution, yes, once somebody has decided what the execution is. Publishing posts, updating profiles, syncing details across directories — all of that is delegable. Writing the plan, auditing entity consistency, building structured data that matches the visible page, and measuring what changed month over month generally are not.

Is it cheaper to hire a VA than to hire LeadJens? On raw hours, almost always. A VA at 6 dollars an hour is not a price I compete with and I would not pretend otherwise. The comparison only favors me when the constraint is the plan rather than the hours, and the honest way to find out which one you have is to look at whether you already know what you would tell a VA to do.

Can I use both? That is the best outcome and it is what my strongest clients do. I decide and draft, their assistant publishes. That split usually costs less than either of us doing the whole job alone, and it keeps the person who knows your business closest to the work.
