AEO for real estate agents · how LeadJens does the work

Readable is the start. Recommended is the goal.

AEO, answer engine optimization, is the work of getting ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google’s AI to describe you correctly and consider you when a buyer or seller asks who to hire. This page covers what LeadJens actually does, in what order, and what nobody can promise you. For how AEO differs from GEO and SEO, read the plain-English explainer. What is the difference between a readable website and being recommended by AI?

A readable website means AI engines can reach your pages and understand them. Being recommended means an engine names you when someone asks who to hire, and that takes much more than your own site.

Readable is the part you control. The AI crawlers are allowed in, your facts sit in the page as plain text, and your structured data validates. The five-minute self-check tests exactly that.

Recommended is the part you influence. The engine has to find you, confirm who you are from sources other than your own site (your profiles, your Google Business Profile, reviews it can read, mentions elsewhere), and decide you fit the question. Google says it plainly in its structured data guidelines: it does not guarantee that structured data will show up in search results, even when a page is marked up correctly. Why engines can know you and still not name you is covered in why AI knows you but doesn't recommend you.

I measure this on myself. On October 22, 2026, the structured data on my own real estate website went from two validator errors to zero, and its provisional AI visibility score moved from 25 to 28 out of 100. The site got more readable that day, and the score is still 28. A cleaner record isn't a recommendation. The details are on the proof page.

The other side of it: in June 2026, LeadJens built a website and a Google Business Profile for Andrew Guglielmi, a San Mateo property manager and REALTOR®, who had neither, and corrected his name, address and phone across more than 10 profiles. On October 16, 2026, ChatGPT, used logged out, named him among three San Mateo professionals to contact about an inherited house, a question we had also written about for him. That's what being recommended looks like, and the timeline is in the case study.

What does LeadJens actually do for AEO?

It starts with a measured baseline, fixes accuracy first, then keeps the record current every month.

  • The baseline. Your AI Visibility Score. We ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI the questions your clients ask, signed out, and score what comes back across six areas: whether AI recommends you, reviews an engine can read, a site that answers questions, one consistent identity, your map listings, and your Google Business Profile.
  • Month one. Structured data for you and your business, one consistent name, title and market across your profiles, bios ready to paste, a Google Business Profile set up the way AI reads it, and, if you have a website, its sitemap submitted to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.
  • Every month after. A lighter check of what the AI engines say about you, the top one or two fixes handled for you, review sync, and a watch for drift, such as an old brokerage or address showing up under your name again.
  • Every quarter. A full reassessment on the consumer AI tools, compared against where you started.

Which LeadJens plan includes AEO?

Every paid plan starts with it. The difference is what sits on top.

  • Pulse, $197 a month. The AEO work above. Accuracy first, because everything downstream depends on it.
  • Pulse + Prism, $797 a month. Adds published substance: blog posts and the rest of your monthly content, written in your voice. Engines recommend people they can find saying something useful. See blog writing and content for agents.
  • Partner, $997 a month. Adds an AI-ready website we build and host; the build and setup are quoted separately. See LeadJens Partner.

What can AEO not promise?

Rankings, recommendations or leads. Nobody controls what an AI engine says. Engines change their models and sources without notice, and the same question can get a different answer on a different day. What LeadJens can promise is narrower and checkable: an accurate, consistent, readable record of you, a lighter check every month, a full reassessment every quarter, and a straight report when the number doesn't move. If someone guarantees you a place in ChatGPT's answer, ask them how.

How long does AEO take?

There's no fixed timeline. The profile fixes LeadJens controls are made in month one; changes to a website someone else runs depend on that site's owner. When the engines reflect them depends on when they read those sources again. In the one case study we've published, the first lead from an AI search came 18 days after the work started. That's one client's result. Yours may take longer.

Questions agents ask about AEO

Is AEO different from SEO for a real estate agent?

They overlap, but the goal differs. SEO aims for a high position in a list of links. AEO aims for you to be described correctly and named inside an AI-written answer, which leans harder on consistent facts about you across the web and less on any single page. Most of the underlying work is shared. The plain-English explainer goes further.

What happens if AI says something wrong about me?

Nobody can edit an AI's answer directly, so the work goes upstream. We find where the wrong fact came from, often an old profile, a stale brokerage page or someone with a similar name, correct or outweigh that source, and check the answer again on the next pass. Some corrections show up quickly; others take several re-reads.

Do I need a new website for AEO?

Not necessarily. Pulse works with the website and profiles you already have. If your site blocks AI crawlers or hides your facts behind scripts, you'll get a fix list, and if you have no website or want one built for this, that's what Partner is for. The self-check shows which case you're in.

How do you measure whether AEO is working?

The same questions, scored on the same rubric. Each month a lighter check runs through the AI engines directly; each quarter a full signed-out reassessment runs on the consumer tools themselves, compared with your starting point. Both come in plain English, and if a number goes down, the report says so and says why, as far as we can tell.

What do I have to do as the agent?

Approve the changes that touch your profiles, ask a few recent clients for reviews, and read the monthly report. Tell us when something about your business changes, such as your brokerage or office address, so the record can be updated everywhere. LeadJens drafts and fixes; you sign off on anything published under your name.
